New teaching unit about the Chumash/Tongva-Gabrielino Indian people for Grades 3-4

NCHS is creating a teaching unit for Grades 3-4 on the Chumash/Tongva-Gabrielino Indian people to be used in California History classes. Work on this spiral bound, primary source-rich teaching unit will be completed by the summer of 2012. A CD with Paul Goldsmith's documentary film on the Chumash people, titled "Six Generations," will be included with the teaching unit.

David Vigilante, Associate Director of NCHS, is the teacher-writer of lesson plans, assisted by Kristen Glasgow, Ph.D. candidate at UCLA; Marian Olivas, Program Coordinator at NCHS, Director Gary Nash, and a scholar-advisor, Professor Steven Hackel at UC Riverside.
